Kevin Mahoney is the founder of Marketing by Kevin, a Digital Marketing and SEO Consulting Agency in Chicago, IL. Kevin started his professional career at the young age of 14 working part-time at a paintball field called The Badlandz in Crete, IL. By age 17 he was working full time for the newly created paintball brand Shocktech. Kevin worked exclusively with Shocktech until he was 26, including playing with the Shocktech Factory Paintball Team and finishing his competitive paintball playing days with the professional Team Aftershock.
In 2006, Kevin was hired by PMI (Pursuit Marketing Inc.) into the sales department working his way up to the west coast account manager. In 2008, PMI and NPS (National Paintball Supply) were purchased by AJ Holdings and merged making KEE Action Sports.
The merger was tough. It created one position for two people in many cases making it a very competitive environment to hang on to your job.
Kevin humbly grew through this stressful period and received a promotion to become the rest of world (ROW) international sales manager, a division both companies needed improvement.
With this promotion, Kevin traveled around the world several times to 13+ countries with repeat trips to South Africa, Brazil, and Malaysia each six times. This experience gave Kevin a real-life education on a global view of the world, how cultures and values differ from American, and how to set up proper distribution channels for business globally.
In 2013, around the time technology began evolving specifically in business, he knew there was a better way to communicate to his customers, aside from the traditional cold call method used by sales departments around the world. This is when he left the paintball industry and started his digital marketing career.
